Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” album makes Billboard Hot 200 history!

Burna Boy makes a grand statement with “Love, Damini” becoming the first Nigerian album in history to debut at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 200.

Burna Boy - Love, Damini

Burna Boy’s auspicious reign since the year began has been very conspicuous. The rollout to the release of his sixth studio album started towards the end of 2021 which had him performing unreleased songs from the album at his sold-out shows but fully commenced on the 29th of April 2022 during his grand performance at the Madison Square Garden, New York when he teased the album’s release date on stage and announced it was available for pre-save or pre-order on DSPs. The rollout continued by him putting out the global hit record, Last Last on May 13 which led to the eventual drop of the album, Love, Damini on July 8.

The success of Love, Damini is unquantifiable for it keeps creating 1-of-1 records each day. One of such is the most recent whereby it becomes the highest charting album by an African act on the U.S Billboard Hot 200, more impressive is it accomplished this feat as a debut on the chart. Selling 25,000 units in the USA, Love, Damini debuts at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 200 for the week starting July 19 2022.

More reasons for Joy as the lead single off the album, Last Last makes its entry on the Billboard Hot 100 at the 85th spot, becoming the fastest song by a Nigerian musician to debut on the chart.

With the outstanding run of Love, Damini since its release, projecting a top 10 slate for the album does not seem far-fetched. Burna Boy, his team and fans can only hope for that to happen. What a time to be alive! Congratulations to Burna Boy.
