The Football Association has launched an investigation after objects were thrown at Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne during City’s 3-1 win at Arsenal on Wednesday evening.
The midfielder was targeted while he was walking around the pitch after he was substituted late on in the game.
It is thought that referee Anthony Taylor brought it up in his game report.
De Bruyne scored a goal and assisted on another as City leapfrogged Arsenal as the league’s top team.
The Belgium international posted a picture on social media of himself at Emirates Stadium with the caption ‘beer anyone?’.
Another picture posted by De Bruyne, with a cup in the air near him, had the caption ‘thanks!’.
