Brazil seals last 16 spot with Casemiro stunning winner

Brazil, a five-time champion, defeated Switzerland with a last-second goal by Casemiro to advance to the World Cup knockout round.

Seven minutes from the end, Manchester United player Casemiro’s first-time shot into the far corner, which left goalkeeper Yann Sommer standing, restored life to an otherwise dull game.

Brazil followed up their initial triumph over Serbia with a win over Cameroon in their final match, and they finished first in the group with a perfect score.

After an hour, Tite’s team felt they had taken the lead when Vinicius Jr. calmly and coolly stroked in, but VAR disallowed the goal for offside.
Switzerland failed to register a shot on goal during the encounter and had sat still for the majority of the time.
Murat Yakin’s team believed they would win with a point, but Casemiro’s inspirational play in Stadium 974 sent Brazilian supporters into a frenzy.
