Anthony will meet the Greater Manchester Police upon his return to England. The Manchester United winger, who was in Brazil, decided to cooperate with authorities in addressing the serious allegations against him.
Reports indicate that the 23-year-old is willing to provide his phone to aid the police investigation. His former partner, Gabriela Cavallin, accused him of abuse through the Brazilian news outlet UOL, but Antony vehemently denies these claims.
Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana have also accused Antony of assault. Manchester United has granted him paid leave to address these allegations properly. Antony had been in Brazil for international duty but was removed from the squad when the allegations surfaced.
According to reports by the Brazilian news outlet UOL, Cavallin alleged that Antony assaulted her in a Manchester hotel room on January 15th, using a headbutt, resulting in a head injury needing medical treatment. Cavallin also claimed she was punched in the chest, damaging a silicone breast implant, requiring corrective surgery.
Antony consistently asserts his innocence on social media, stating, “I can calmly state that the accusations are false, and the evidence already presented, as well as the evidence that will be presented, will demonstrate my innocence.”
Although police in Brazil interviewed him in June, he has not faced charges. In June, he released a statement asserting his former girlfriend falsely accused him of domestic violence. It’s noteworthy that local authorities in Brazil did not oppose Antony’s return to the UK.
Additionally, De Freitas and Lana have accused Antony of assaulting them last year, allegations which Antony also denies.
