Wizkid, Tems and Fireboy DML win big at AFRIMA 2021

Wizkid shined bright, winning 3 awards; Fireboy and Tems won 2 each while Cheque gets a solo plaque at the AFRIMA 2021.

The All African Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2021 was held in Lagos overnight yesterday (being October 22nd) shedding light on many African artistes and giving them their well deserved flowers. Among the big winners of the night were Wizkid who won 3 awards; Fireboy DML and Tems winning 2 each; Cheque, Flavour and Legendury Beatz scooping a solo polo each to their names; LadiPoe, Patoranking, Olakira and others blessing the stage with beautiful performances of their respective hit songs.

Wizkid’s superb 2020-2021 run continued last night, winning 3 out of 6 nods, his “Essence” collaboration with Tems won 2 for him in the Best Song of the Year and the Best Collaboration categories, with his solo win coming in the AFRIMA Artist of the Year award; Wizkid’s frequent and longtime producers duo collaborators, Legendury Beatz, on the hand, were blessed as the recipients of the Best Producer of the Year plaque.

Fireboy DML would have his massive supporters to thank for taking home the African’s Fan Favourite award for composing the intercontinental smash-hit single “Peru”. His second win will be for featuring on Nigerian’s trap-pop artiste, Cheque’s “History” song, which got them both the award for Best Duo African HipHop; Mr Flavour “Oyolima” also won an award for his “Berna Reloaded” music video with Fally Ipupa and Diamond Platnumz. Flavour won the award for the Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Dance or Choreography.
