Ben 10 creator Duncan Rouleau reveals his willingness to create a more mature series for the character.
With the recent resurgence of mature animated content such as Netflix’s ‘The Blue Eyed Samurai’ and Prime’s ‘Invincible’ both of which have become beloved by fans of the genre, Many fans have been clamoring that studios produce more mature versions of popular animated franchises. This resulted in Adult Film producing a mature final season for Cartoon Network’s Samurai Jack.
Another beloved series that many fans believe should get the same treatment is Ben 10. A franchise which has been inactive in recent years. Well, Ben 10 creator Duncan Rouleau has some good news for fans of the hit animated series. According to Cartoon Base, Rouleau hinted at the possibility of creating a more mature series for the character.
Rouleau stated, “Ben 10000 is a great character and deserves its own feature.” Ben 10000 is an older iteration of Ben 10, who appeared occasionally in the original show and spinoffs. Rouleau further expressed his willingness to create a new Ben 10 series for Adult Swim.
“Absolutely. It would be great to have a high-stakes show that offered more mature themes. I’m not so interested in gore or sexual content, but dealing with the emotional, social, and political elements that the MCU movies deal with would be exciting.”
He, however, added that any mature Ben 10 series will be set outside the established continuity. “We don’t look backward. We are always looking for ways to explore and build on the idea. Early on, that included following Ben as he aged, but any iterations in the future will be about discovering new ways of telling Ben’s story.”
Although there is no confirmed Ben 10 series in active development, the possibility of us getting a mature Ben 10 series is likely with Rouleau and his team on board.
Ben 10 first aired on Cartoon Network on December 27, 2005. The original series follows Ben Tennyson, a typical kid who becomes very atypical after he discovers the Omnitrix. A mysterious alien device with the power to transform the wearer into ten different alien species. The franchise later expanded with multiple spinoff series, including Ultimate Alien, Omniverse, and Alien Force.
