The song is Buju’s way of reassuring himself and fans of the end goal, that is, to continue deliver on every song with a verse to his name.
Buju boasts of his vocal prowess and lyrical ability and to anyone doubting him, Buju is ready to go head-to-head with their favourite rapper, as much as “dropping a 16-bar” on whoever they consider worthy of challenging him, “I’m a singing nigga wey still sabi flow proper.” Buju warns. Buju also name drops music greats who he derives his unique style from, “You are looking at a mix of Burna Boy and 2Baba with a sprinkle of Khalid and Frank Ocean” he says confidently.
Never Stopped is produced by Buju’s go-to producer, Timi Jay, who delivers once again, making just the right Afrobeat instrumental to match Buju’s midtempo vocals. The song occupies the second spot on the tracklist to “Sorry I’m Late” by the singer. The EP drops Thursday, October 28th.
