“A day before [shooting “All Power” music video], my mum told me not to” – Victony shares incredible story of how obeying his mother led to “Apollo”, and “Soweto” becoming smash hit records

Victony shares amazing story of how “Apollo”, and “Soweto” became hit records.

Anthony Ebuka Victor, known best as Victony is someone whose trajectory to becoming one of the best vocalists and international music acts from Nigeria will always serve as an inspiration, now and for the coming generations. In the first quarter of 2021, he, unfortunately, was involved in a ghastly car accident which resulted in him being confined to the four wheels of the wheel-chair; in what seemed like a dark moment in his life, Victony’s career went on its upsurge journey, disseminating his name and music from one household to another. Fast-forward to December of 2021, Victony had been able to secure a hit record in the Mayorkun co-owned “Holy Father” single.

All that hype led to Victony’s decision to release his second Extended Play (EP) the next year, this year that is, in 2022. Contained in the EP are seven (7) songs, with “All Power” as the third (3rd) song off it. In a Twitter Q&A, Victony revealed he almost shot the music video for the fan-favourite song which was about the flattering of females with massive backsides. Creative music director, TG Omori, had been contacted by Victony and his management and plans had been made for the music video to get shot on a particular agreed date, but just a day before the agreed day for the “All Power” video shoot, Victony said his mother advised him not to go ahead with the made plans.

What prompted Victony into revealing this was a question asked by one of his followers on Twitter. The question states: ”When will you drop video for all power ? #askvictony. (sic)”, Victory answered “Never”, speaking more on it, he continues “A day before shoot, my mum told me not to, & I should watch God bless me with a bigger song. (sic)”Victory explains why the “All Power” music video never made it to our screens, however, he believes the foreseen blessing by his mother came in form of “Apollo”, and “Soweto” which are also songs in the EP.

Victony shares the incredible story, “We flipped the set for “all power” to “Apollo” . The next week, “soweto” picked. Now, 100M+ streams later (sic)”. Victony believes obedience to his mother aided such decision making which resulted in pushing the aforementioned songs—“Apollo”, and “Soweto”.
