Love Drunk EP by Ycee had him digging deep into his bags of emotions, detailing different phases of falling in love and being in a relationship, not just the overshown PDA lovey-dovey side, the media never fails to beam on our screens. Ycee’s latest EP is a moody ride through his past and present relationships, with the use of soothing vocals through seven tracks, he expresses himself with breezy but meaningful lyrics.
Ycee shows his soft lover boy side on “My Ways” on which he ponders forgiveness while keeping the mood light on “Intentionally” before switching to the braggadocious Ain’t Nobody Badder Than side of his emotional playbook on “Nu Riddim” and the Patoranking assited “Aunty Lovina”. Ycee made use of mellow R&B productions across tracks, although production changes quite differently to an uplifting bouncy pace on the last track. Another upside to Love Drunk is the rapper-singer improved vocals in comparison to his previous projects.
On Love Drunk EP, Ycee opts for ‘less bars, more rhythm’ formula and it worked out just well for him. Apart from Patoranking, DwillsHarmony is the only featured act, coming through on “My Ways”. Listen to the tape:
