Wizkid! No one could be having a finer year than the 31 years old 5’4″ tall man. Since releasing the groundbreaking record-setting “Made In Lagos” album over a year ago, one could easily decipher, it was going to be a “Wiz year” all year round. Getting plaques on plaques has become a norm for one of Africa’s finest music export; he has this year’s edition of the MOBO Awards to support the claim amongst others, winning two awards in the “Best African Music Act” and “Best International Act” categories.
Wizkid who went 2-for-2 in the categories nominated was up against Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, NSG, King Promise and first time nominees in Rema, CKay and Ayra Starr for the “Best African Music Act” and put alongside heavy hitters like Drake, Young Thug & Gunna (YSL), Doja Cat, Kanye West, Polo G, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X (all from the USA), Skillbeng (Jamaica) and fellow Nigerian artiste – Rema, in the “Best International Act” segment of the award show.
These wins bring Wizkid total at the MOBO Awards to 4, as he becomes the most awarded African act at the British award show, yet setting another record in that regard.
