The EFL Play off final: A single Sporting event where triumph in the final is worth an estimated £170m

The English Football League Championship play-offs are a series of play-off matches contested by the teams finishing from 3rd to 6th in the EFL Championship table to determine the third team that will be promoted the Premier League. The semi-finals are played over two legs, with 3rd playing 6th and 4th playing 5th, with the return fixtures following. The final is played at Wembley Stadium, although from 2001 to 2006, it was played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff while Wembley was being reconstructed.
There is no single sporting event in the world that is more valuable to the winner than the EFL playoffs final. The winner ends up £170m better than the loser mainly due to an increase in commercial television revenue from being promoted to the Premier League.
The 2020 edition of the playoff final was between Fulham and Brentford who were the winners of Semi-Final series. Joe Bryan scored twice in extra time to lift Fulham past Brentford with a 2-1 win in the Championship playoff final. The win sees Fulham return to the Premier League after being relegated following the 2018-19 campaign, they join Leeds United and West Brom as the promoted teams from the Championship.
