Douglas Jack Agu, popularly referred to as Runtown is back with his first single after a self-sentenced hiatus from the music scene. Runtown’s new song carries the title Things I Know. It fosters youthful desires like philandering, partying and the urge to live a “soft life” but reminds them there is a limit to these exuberant traits, “Faaji na turn by time”, Runtown sings confidently, putting in mind that there is an allocated time for everything under the sun and he wishes to enjoy his while they last.
In Things I know, Runtown is struck with bafflement as to how endowed his lover’s body is and tries seeking reasons as to why he is overly obsessed with her but to no avail. “Is the way she move body / Na the way she ju badi / Is the way she move body o / Make me sef dey move body”, he admits as to why he cannot resist being love-stuck, furthering his claims, he sings, “Why you do that? / Tell me why you do that / You should see the way she dey do dey [move] that / You should see the way her body manoeuvre / Wetin she gimme chop I don’t know / Know sey I pull up when she want want (uh no)”. Runtown seems to have found the source of his bafflement but is not willing to let go of the signs either for he sings in the first verse “My baby you for signal me make I know / My baby you for ginger me make I know / I feel it coming closer ehn / I can feel it coming closer”, complimenting it with the hook by singing “E be like Gongo Aso / I stand on what I know / Come make I tell the things I know / . . . / My baby try my vibe / Give me time time time / Oya listen to the things I know”.
With Things I Know, word is Runtown is gearing for his second studio album release, which will be his fifth project overall and his first since the April 23 2021 mixtape “Soundgod Fest Reloaded”. His next album is titled “Signs” and is expected to be out on November 18 (according to Runtown’s most recent Instagram post). Things I Know is an Afro-pop mid-tempo vocal masterpiece by Runtown, it reaffirms the working formula he has always yielded to. That is definitely why he is called a Soundgod, he never seems to do wrong on the microphone and this latest single truly attests to his irreprehensible ability.
