Raheem Sterling flies Back to UK Over Robbery Scare.
Raheem Sterling, a Chelsea star and England forward, has left the England National team’s camp in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup and flown back to the UK after burglars broke into his house while his family was inside.
Sterling, who has started two of England’s three World Cup games so far, was conspicuously absent from their Round of 16 match against Senegal. This is because he decided to return home as soon as he received the news, fearing for the safety of his wife and children.
However, before the match, the Football Association confirmed he would miss the match due to a “family matter”. When asked about Sterling’s possible return to the team during this tournament, Manager Gareth Southgate replied “I really don’t know, it’s a situation he needs time to deal with, I don’t want to put any pressure on him.”
