Ololade Asake, simply known by his stage name—Asake, is YBNL’s new signing. The record label which houses Olamide (the founder and CEO), Jayboi and Fireboy DML is now home to emerging and buzzing new music talent, Asake.
Asake burst into the music mainstream with “Lady” single in 2020, before proceeding to terrorise the streets with certified bangers suchs as “Mon Cheri”, “Mr Money” and “Omo Ope” which won him quite a few awards with one of the most reputable being The City People Music Awards; he’s also collaborated with top artistes in Nigeria in the likes of Zlatan & Peruzzi (“Mr Money (Remix) in 2021), in-demand producer Rexxie (“Banger” from his “A True Champion” album in 2021) and the most recent and heavyweight of them all, Olamide (“Omo Ope (Remix)” in January 2022).
“Omo Ope (Remix)” immediately became a success with positive receptions from fans of both artistes and music critics and to cap it all, the song is currently No. 1 on Nigeria’s Apple Music Hot 100 chart but that is not the peak of it all as his (Asake”s) most recent collaborator, Olamide, welcomes the talented singer to YBNL Nation label.
Asake’s signing to YBNL Nation was announced by Olamide via social media with the caption—Mood . . . @asakemusic welcome to #YBNL—with a preview of Asake’s new music in which he was in the studio playing a new joint (probably from an upcoming project).
Asake joins the YBNL family few days after Olamide signed fellow youngster, Jayboi.
Jayboi has been making music from a very young age since way back in 2013 (“Love Song”) but caught Olamide’s eye a while ago as seen on his feature on Baddo’s “999” EP on the seventh track—”Mojo” and most recently “Yeobayae” single also featuring Olamide which got released last month. Not much is known about Jayboi other than his socials is @officialjayboi (on Instagram).
