Still feeling the heat from his internationally acclaimed hit record “Ku Lo Sa”, Oxlade decides now is the time to keep his foot on the gas, going full throttle as he calls on Mayorkun to assist him in making a Bad Boy anthem. This new song is produced by the in-demand producer Magicsticks.
The cover artwork for Bad Boy is inspired by the 2020-released movie, “Bad Boy for Life”, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence; in the artwork, Oxlade and Mayorkun pose as action figures, ready to deal havoc on anyone asking for it.
Unlike the inspired movie, Bad Boy in no way has Oxlade and Mayorkun claiming to be skilled at martial acts and fictional stunts, but to their acclaim, they boast about “living the reckless life” which entails heavy drinking, chain-smoking, intense philandering, and non-stop partying.
In his verse, Oxlade testifies: “I am, living life on a speedy (Speed Darlington) / No party like a Lagos person (Oshey eyan Wellington) / . . . / I no send nobody”. The energy is reciprocated in Mayorkun’s verse as he backs Oxlade with the words, “’Cause I be your dog, I no be Bingo (Bingo) / . . . / But these bad bi–hes I’m linking (Linking) / And them pretty and them boujee (Boujee) / And them sexy and them- / What is the cost, I’ll pay it all / Make the story for no dey long / Long as I’m happy, f–k y’all”.
The synergy of Oxlade’s and Mayorkun’s verses is perfectly complimented on the hook as the spotlight shines on Oxlade euphoric vocal cords, “Hennessy mẹta (Ko yo mi) / Jumbo mẹrin (Ko le to mi) / Omo, obinrin mefa (Ko ma yo mi) / Baby, I am living the reckless life / I’m a bad boy”.
Magicsticks produced the Amapiano instrumental, blending the drum rolls, horns, and notes on the keyboard fittingly.
