Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appears to be the lead in the Wonder Man live-action series. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is no stranger to the superhero genre as he is well-known for his roles in various DC projects, including the 2018 Aquaman, in which he played David Kane aka Black Manta, and in HBO’s 2019 Watchmen, in which he played Cal Abar/Dr Manhattan.In Wonder Man,
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, a wealthy industrialist who gains ion-based superpowers, including super strength, from the villainous Baron Zemo. Despite being introduced as an antagonist to the Avengers, he eventually joins the team.In addition, Ben Kingsley, who played the fake Mandarin in Iron Man 3 and Sang Chi, will reprise his role in the show. According to some sources, he “will play a significant role.” Wonder Man will also be executive produced by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton.
The show which was first announced in June is currently being developed by Marvel studios. However, little is known about Wonder Man’s plot, other than that it will be comedic in tone.Though Wonder Man is not set to be released on Disney Plus anytime soon, fans of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II can look forward to seeing him in the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to be released on December 25, 2023.
