Odion Ighalo has reportedly been offered a mouth-watering £400k-a-week contract by parent club Shanghai Shenhua in a bid to convince him to stay at the club instead of Joining Manchester United permanently.
The Nigerian striker made the surprising loan move to Manchester United during the January transfer window and has since then adapted well at Old Trafford, involved in five goals (scoring four times and creating one assist) in eight games before the season was suspended.
The 30-year-old has two months left on his 6-month contract with Manchester United which is likely to be extended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ighalo’s contract at parent club Shenhua expires in December 2022 and the Chinese Club wants to keep him till 2024. The new deal would see Ighalo earn £400,000 a week before tax.
It remains to be seen what Ighalo decides on, but there is doubt Manchester United have a place in his heart describing it as a “dream move” seeing him play in the colors of Manchester United
