The global box office is presently dominated by Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Black Panther and the final film of the MCU phase 4 premiered to an impressive $330 million worldwide. It received a total of $150 million from 55 international countries and $180 million from North American markets over the weekend. Its $180 million revenue essentially set a new North American November opening record.
This record was previously held by “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” in 2013. Which grossed $158 million in its first weekend. In terms of the year’s largest US debuts, Black Panther Wakanda Forever is only second behind Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which made $187.4 million.
The film, which has received accolades for paying respect to the late Chadwick Boseman, also debuted Tenoch Huerta as Namor, and his interpretation of the legendary Marvel character has been well received by MCU fans. Expectations for the film’s ongoing success are high.
