2023 has been an interesting year for movie lovers worldwide. This year superhero movies and other tentpole franchises did not dominate the top spots. Instead, this year, audiences turned out in mass to watch films with no ties to an existing franchise, such as Barbie and Oppenheimer. 2. The Super Mario Bros. Movie: $1.3 billion
