The Black Book: Netflix Unveils New Poster for the RMD-led Thriller

Netflix has released two new posters and a trailer for its upcoming Nollywood crime thriller, The Black Book.

The Black Book, which is Editi Effiong’s directorial debut film. Follows Paul Edim, played by Richard Mofe Damijo, as he attempts to get justice against a gang of corrupt policemen. Who killed and framed his only son for kidnapping.

As part of the film’s promotional campaign, Netflix has released a new character poster featuring Denola Grey. As well as an official film poster.

Netflix had also earlier released a trailer for the film. Which showcases RMD’s acting prowess.

In the trailer he masterfully portrays a bereaved deacon whose grief slowly evolves into a thirst for vengeance. The actor recently revealed in an Instagram post that preparation for the role was quite demanding, both mentally and emotionally. He had to undertake an intensive training regimen that included fight sequences, boxing, and weapons training. This training was undertaken alongside Denola Grey, who plays his son in the film.

Netflix also revealed news about its Nollywood movie slate at its exclusive Nigerian talent appreciation event. The event dubbed: Lights, Camera, Nigeria! Was a celebration of the Nigerian film industry. During which the streamer revealed that. The Black Book is one of seven Nigerian shows and movies debuting on the platform in 2023 and 2024. Other titles on its slate include ltré: The Series and Ankulápó: The Series.

The Black Book will premiere on Netflix on September 22nd.
