Every year Barack Obama puts out a list of songs he enjoys during the Summertime, including a wide variety of genres, soundscapes and generations of artistes. This year’s Summer Playlist curated by the U.S ex-president has contributions from four (4) Nigerian singers, namely—Tems, Burna Boy, Pheelz and BNXN fka Buju.

The final track on Tems’ sophomore EP (If Orange as a Place)—Vibe Out—sits comfortably in the No. 2 spot on page 1 of the 2022 Barack Obama’s Summer Playlist. Last Last by Burna Boy appears in the second column of page 1 on the 14th position; Pheelz’s breakout single, Finesse featuring BNXN rounds up the list of Nigerian songs included on the Summer Playlist.

Pheelz and BNXN are first-timers on the annual Barack Obama’s Summer Playlist but Burna Boy (2019) has previously featured on it alongside Rema (2019), Wizkid (2020) and Tems (2020).
