Ronaldo back with squad, Varane doubtful for World Cup – Ten Hag

Raphael Varane’s World Cup eligibility is in doubt due to his injury, according to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who also announced Cristiano Ronaldo will be in the team to play FC Sheriff on Thursday.

After being benched for the draw at Chelsea as punishment  for refusing to come in as a substitute against Tottenham, Ronaldo resumed training with the first-team squad on Tuesday.

Despite Varane’s injury at Stamford Bridge, the 37-year-old is still in the running to face FC Sheriff.

In a press conference, Ten Hag stated that Cristiano would be on the team. “I believe we covered everything and provided answers to all the queries. He had left.

Cristiano will be part of the squad ” announced Ten Hag during a press conference. “I believe we covered all the bases and provided all the information. He missed one game but is now back on the team as normal.

“Everything was clarified, and now we must concentrate on the game tomorrow. We want to win this game because we want to win the group. The attention is now on the game since it’s over and he’s back. It’s crucial that Cristiano be on the team tomorrow.”

Varane won’t play for United before the World Cup, according to Ten Hag, who also claimed that the France defender is doubtful for the tournament, which will begin in Qatar next month.
