Manchester United’s winning run continued with a club-record eighth consecutive away Premier League victory this weekend, summer signing Edinson Cavani coming off the bench to complete a comeback victory at Southampton.
The game of the weekend didn’t bring about enough excitements as anticipated, Chelsea and Tottenham played out a stalemate at Stamford Bridge in the battle of the in-form London rivals, whilst Liverpool were thwarted late at Brighton following a contentious VAR call.
Elsewhere Manchester City rediscovered their mojo to thrash a hapless Burnley, whilst Arsenal’s disappointing defeat to Wolves confirmed their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

• 3 – West Ham have won three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since May 2019, while they have lost just one of their last eight in the competition (W5 D2).
• 2013 – Fulham have won a Premier League game against a side starting the day in the top four of the table for the first time since March 2013 (a 1-0 victory at Tottenham), having lost 14 of their last 15 such fixtures prior to today (D1).
• 4 – Jamie Vardy has been involved in each of Leicester’s last four Premier League goals against Fulham (2 goals & 2 assists).
• 13 – Arsenal’s tally of 13 points is their lowest after their opening 10 matches of a league campaign since the 1981-82 season (12).
• 17 – Wolves have amassed 17 points in this season’s Premier League (W5 D2 L3); this is their most after their first 10 games of a top-flight campaign since 1979-80 (20 – adjusting to three points for a win).
• 13 – Spurs have won 13 points away from home in the Premier League this season (W4 D1) – converting to three-points-per-win all-time, only in 1960-61 have they earned more points from their first five games on the road in the top-flight (15).
• 5 – Édouard Mendy has kept five clean sheets in the Premier League this season, the most of any goalkeeper.
• 4 & 8 – Manchester United are the first side in Premier League history to win four consecutive away games despite trailing in each tie, celebrating eight straight away top-flight victories for the very first time.
• 2 – In Premier League history, only Kevin Phillips (36y 197d v Birmingham in February 2010) has scored more than once as a substitute at an older age than Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani (33y 289d).
• 7 – Matheus Pereira has created seven chances so far against Sheffield United, the most by a player in a single Premier League game so far this season
• 2 – Manchester City are only the second side in Football League history to win four successive home games by 5+ goals against a single opponent in all competitions, after Notts County v Port Vale between October 1893 and February 1907.
• 2 – Riyad Mahrez is only the second African to score a Premier League hat-trick for Man City after Yaya Toure against Fulham in March 2014.
• 2017 – This is the first time Liverpool have dropped points in the Premier League thanks to goals scored after 90+ minutes since August 2017, with Miguel Britos’ strike earning a 3-3 draw for Watford.
• 1998 – Neal Maupay is the first player to start a Premier League game, miss a penalty, and be subbed off before half-time since Dennis Bergkamp against Derby in April 1998.
• 50% – Crystal Palace have lost each of their last seven Premier League games in which they’ve had at least 50 percent possession, scoring only once from 87 shots in these ties.
