Olamide is an icon. that is undeniable. His distinctive display of different musical skills over the years is enough proof. On his eleventh studio album, the versatile act once again shows why he is proclaimed a ‘Baddo.’ The album title, Unruly, is self-explanatory.

Unruly: disorderly and disruptive and not amenable to discipline or control. Olamide showed his unruliness to the full in this album. Tracks like Jinja, Gaza, Problem, Sweet Jam, Come Alive, and Supplier render melodious testimonials. What might catch listeners’ attention, however, is how most tracks in Unruly are dedicated to females. “Unruly is one month away. Strictly Bo pata music.” He wrote on his Twitter, even explaining further, “for baddies and men weh love baddies,” he adds better context to the previous sentence.

Did Olamide fulfill his aim? One hundred percent! Of the 15 songs Decorating Unruly, at least 9 (60%) touch on pleasing the opposite gender or flexing the soft life. With intricate composition, Olamide describes the feminine body in different forms, professing his love for it unprovoked.

“Omotena, I love you, can’t you see?” he asks patiently in Mukulu. “Make I put am for your body / Gba ko je, ko je / No be poison,” Olamide declares his intentions—that of sexual pleasures and romance on Jinja.

With Unruly, Olamide portrays two personalities. One of a gangster, a leader who wrecks havoc on any offender. The second personality is an unreserved romantic, who is not shy to let out his emotions. The listeners of Unruly will have to choose which persona they prefer.

Five entertaining featured acts graced the album. Asake and CKay on the promotional New Religion and Trumpet singles respectively. Bnxn (Come Alive), Fireboy DML (Shibebe), and Rema (Mukulu) are the other three. And oh boy, did they all deliver, showing off their talents brilliantly.

Eskeez is responsible for creating the instrumentals for 9 of the 15 tracks in Unruly either in part or in full. Magicsticks is next with 4 while P.Priime and Bbanks share credits on 1 song each. The only non-Nigerian beatmaker is Alex Lustig on Mukulu.
