Odunsi creates an out-of-world alternate universe feel with “Denim” EP

Bowofoluwa Olufisayo Odunsi whose stage name is Odunsi (The Engine) is back from two years and 4 months of self-inflicted hiatus from the mainstream music scene with a four-track six-minute Denim EP.

With Denim EP, Odunsi continues to push the Alté mantra which is based on creative freedom and not sticking to ‘the norm’ or what is commercially acceptable; Odunsi’s experimenting with sound is one of his trademark music styles, he topped the notch a bit more with the release of this EP, choosing the Alternative, Pop and Rock soundscapes as the preferred tools for the sonics he wishes listeners experience.

Fans of Odunsi have waited the whole time for him to at least drop a single and straight off the bat, Odunsi chants “Nothing to prove” repeatedly on the first track N2P as a reassurance to the many loyal supporters of his indisputable musical prowess, detailing how he has been able to conquer the rough path that led to him being recognized today.

As much as Odunsi (The Engine) speaks his truth in lyrics, the major takeaway from Denim is its production—the instrumentals, the mix and mastering, the subdued vocals and transitions—which gives the EP an out-of-world alternate reality feel.

Odunsi goes solo on all tracks except the last one—WTF! (Euphoria)—featuring 2aab. The cosmic upbeat productions of Denim will for sure result in mosh-pit and heavy raves when Odunsi starts performing the records in it.
