According to a new report by Variety, Hulu is developing a new “Prison Break” series.
The series will be set in the world of the original but feature a whole new cast of characters. This means that the cast of the original series, which included Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), will be absent.
Further, Hulu is developing the show with Elign James, the co-creator and showrunner of “Mayans M.C.” James has an overall deal with the streaming service and is writing the show via his Sierra Drive banner. Furthermore, James will executive produce with Scheuring and original executive producers Neal Moritz, Dawn Olmstead, and Marty Adelstein.
However, it is still in early development. The original Prison Break aired for five seasons on Fox and concluded with a made-for-TV movie titled The Final Break (2009). It follows Lincoln Burrows, who has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and his brother Michael Scofield, who hatches a plan to help Lincoln escape from prison. During its run, the show earned a Golden Globe for best television series drama for its first season.
It starred Robin Tunney, Peter Stormare, Amaury Nolasco, Marshall Allman, Wade Williams, and Paul Adelstein. While, Brett Ratner, Matt Olmstead, Dawn Parouse, and Kevin Hooks served as executive producers.
