Tems is finally back! After an intentional long haul from putting out musical records, Tems soothes the airwaves with Me & U. Tems’ brand new single focuses on exploring the world with a companion. Me & U is Tems’ first solo single in two years.
The R&B record begins with Tems strongly declaring the only motive for her leaving her comfort zone. “Give me one break, I need faith / Faith to believe you, faith to receive you,” she emphasises.
In the next verse, Tems reiterates the need for unassailable convincing to move her out of her comfortable space. She sings, “Make me your matter,” wittingly playing on the homophones “matter” and “martyr.” That is as if to say “Make me your case” or “Make me your sacrifice” respectively.
She does not stop at that. For Tems to be really convinced, additional effort must be exerted on her companion’s part. “Show me your substance, make me your person,” she pleads relentlessly.
The hook of Me & U is quite straightforward. Tems melodiously repeats her deepest want—“Only me and you.”
