Oscar winner, Dev Patel and Universal Studios have released a new trailer for his directorial debut, “Monkey Man.” The action-packed revenge tale, which shares some critics have compared with John Wick, is set to release theatrically on April 5.
According to the film’s release, ‘Monkey Man’s follows Patel as Kid, “an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.” Furthermore, the Hindu legend of Hanuman inspired the film.
Fans of action movies are sure to love the new trailer. This is because the action-packed trailer shows Patel’s character on a violent rampage. His character embarks on a quest to exact vengeance on those who have mistreated the indigent. While leaving a trail of bodies behind him.
Further, Patel’s ‘Monkey Man’ was originally scheduled to release on Netflix. However, this plan changed after Jordan Peele, the project’s producer, saw the film. He offered that his production firm, Monkeypaw, which has a film deal with Universal, release it theatrically.

As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.”
Dev Patel collaborated on the screenplay for “Monkey Man” with John Collee and Paul Angunawela. The cast includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, and Makarand Deshpande.
Also, “Monkey Man’s” producers include Patel, Win Rosenfeld, Anjay Nagpal, Erica Lee, Jordan Peele, Basil Iwanyk, and Christine Haebler.
