Bruno Fernandes has been named the most valuable midfielder in world football. According to the latest list released by CIES Football Observatory transfer value, the Portuguese star is now worth a staggering £93.5million – £26.5m more than the price the Red Devils paid for his transfer.

Chelsea’s youngster Mason Mount comes in second behind Fernandes with a value of £91.4m, while Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is valued at £91million and he is third on the list.

Fernandes’ teammate at United Paul Pogba fails to make the top 20 list, and according to the CIES Football Observatory, the Frenchman is currently valued at £44.9m, which suggested he has massively deprecated as a player since his £89m move to United in 2016.

A number of factors are considered by the CIES Football Observatory, who attempt to accurately predict the market value of players.

Ability, age, form, contract length, and recent transfers are just some of the things it takes into account when estimating a player’s value.

Fernandes joined United in January and has hit the ground running winning the Premier League player of the month in February before Football was suspended.
