Manchester United have been reportedly linked with a shock move for Partizan Belgrade Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq, reports claim that the Red Devils were among the clubs in Europe that sent scouts to check on the progress of Partizan Belgrade hitman during Partizan Belgrade’s Wednesday derby match against Red Star Belgrade.
According to Serbian media outlet Telegraf, Budimir Vujacic, who is a Manchester United scout for Central and Southeast Europe, was at the derby to watch Sadiq. Scouts representing Moscow-based Spartak, CSKA, Lokomotiv were also at the derby and two of the aforementioned Russian Premier League clubs specially came to observe the Nigerian.
The Sun also claims Sadiq is on Manchester United shortlist of potential targets.
The former Nigerian Under-23 player is statistically the best Nigerian player in Europe when it comes to goals and assists combined, having been involved in 33 goals (17 goals, 16 assists) in 38 matches across all competitions.
Sadiq didn’t disappoint the scouts present as Partizan pipped their bitter rivals 1-0 in with the Nigerian providing an assist for the match-winning goal.
Sadiq whose season-long loan deal at Scottish side Rangers in 2018 was terminated after four first-team appearances has had a stint with Bologna, Torino, NAC Breda, Perugia, and now Partizan.
