Lojay and Chris Brown combine vocals on “Monalisa” remix

Baby follow my commandi like zombie” and “‘Cause this your miliki for front na for me” might have been last year’s soundtrack in the Nigerian music industry, an instant smash-hit from Lojay and Sarz, receiving massive airplays, shutting down parties and events and invariably giving Lojay his first No. 1 hit atop various music charts in the nation. A perfect song, no denying. Chris Brown’s verse however might just be what the song needs to tear up the international market, especially in the U.S.A as both vocalists combine on the remix of Monalisa.

Lojay does well to keep the first verse, intuitively deciphering it to be fan-favourite while Chris Brown brings on his sauce, devouring the Sarz-produced Amapiano-infused instrumental. “Monalisa, I go sweep you off your feet / What up? [Well, well, well said?] / She said, “Make some time for me,” time for me / See for this life, me and you chop like Hushpuppi”, he sings in the Nigerian Pidgin English, even referring to the infamous notorious Nigerian fraudster Hushpuppi, using him to epitomise the luxurious life he and his ‘Monalisa’ enjoy. As expected, Chris Brown never underperforms on Afrobeats records, Monalisa adds to the testament.
