JUST IN: Brighton reject Chelsea’s £80m bid for Caicedo

Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club has rejected a further bid from Chelsea for their midfielder Moises Caicedo. The bid is believed to be around £80 million. 21 years old Caicedo is currently with Brighton’s squad in New Jersey, preparing for a match against Newcastle on Friday.

Brighton is reportedly committed to keeping the Ecuadorian international, and they have previously rejected two other bids from Chelsea for Caicedo. Last year, Brighton took a firm stance with Chelsea over defender Marc Cucurella but eventually agreed to a transfer when the bidding surpassed £60 million.

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi has expressed his plans to include Caicedo in his squad for the upcoming season. The midfielder played a crucial role in Brighton’s sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season, which earned them a spot in the Europa League group stage.

It’s worth noting that in January, Caicedo had expressed his desire to leave Brighton amid interest from Arsenal. However, in March of the same year, he signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.
