Manchester United and England winger Jadon Sancho has rejoined former club Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the 2023–24 season.
The 23-year-old moved to Old Trafford in a £73 million transfer from German club Dortmund in July 2021.
After falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, he hasn’t played for United since August 26. Since September, he has been practicing apart from the first team.
There is no option to buy in the loan agreement.
“When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home’,” Sancho said.
“I know the club inside and out; I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge.

Sancho, who completed his medical on Wednesday, has already arrived in Germany and is expected to report to the Marbella training camp for the club’s midseason campaign.
Dortmund has agreed to pay 3.5 million euros (£3 million), with the possibility of up to 4 million euros (£3.4 million) in add-ons, contingent on appearances, Champions League advancement, and qualification.

The bulk of Sancho’s pay is covered by the contract; if the bonuses are paid in full, Sancho’s pay will exceed 100% of what he makes until the end of the season.
Sancho played for the Bundesliga team from 2017 for four seasons in the past, totaling 50 goals in 137 games.

He struggled with form and consistency after making a high-profile move to Old Trafford, only managing 12 goals in 82 games.

His relationship with Ten Hag soured when the Dutchman claimed that his poor performance in training was the reason he was left out of the squad for the team’s September loss at Arsenal.
Sancho denied those accusations, claiming on social media that he was being used as a “scapegoat.” He later refused to retract his remarks, which resulted in his banishment.
Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s sporting director, continued, “Jadon is an absolute difference player, and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in black and yellow soon.”
Dortmund, who now sit fifth in the Bundesliga, will play their first game of the season at Darmstadt on January 13 after a short winter training camp in Marbella, Spain.
