Jackie Chan Confirms Rush Hour 4 is Currently in Development

Rush Hour 3’s long-awaited sequel is now in the works, 15 years after the film’s release. Jackie Chan, the legendary film performer and co-lead of the Rush Hour franchise, has confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to Rush Hour 4 is in the early stages of development.

Chan confirmed this during an interview at the Red Sea Film Festival.While delivering the news, he stated, “We’re discussing about part 4 right now,” while also divulging some plans for the Rush Hour franchise’s future. He also indicated that following his performance at the festival, he will meet with the Rush Hour 4 director to go through the screenplay. He did not, however, divulge whose director is now committed to the project or whether the screenplay is finished or still under development.

The action-packed Rush Hour 1 released in 1998 to glowing reviews and quickly became a cult classic as fans adored Chan and his co-star Chris Tucker’s chemistry. Rush Hour 2 was released in 2001, followed by Rush Hour 3 in 2007. In addition, in 2016, there was a brief television revival. However, due to high demand, interest in the franchise has remained high over the years.

A fourth Rush Hour film has been speculated for years, but it hasn’t been extensively addressed since 2019, when Chris Tucker revealed that it was in the works.The Rush Hour film series is a buddy comedy film series about a Hong Kong investigator and an outspoken LAPD officer who team up to solve worldwide criminal cases. Though they come from very different worlds and drive one other insane along the road, the two cops eventually create a strong friendship.
