Cristiano Ronaldo has faced so many opponents in his illustrious career, but the Portuguese has named former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole as the toughest opponent he has ever faced in his career.
Ronaldo spent six seasons at Manchester United gave him the chance to come against the England left-back in several occasions. The superstar revealed that he playing against Cole was one of his toughest moment when he was played in the English top flight.
Speaking to Coach Mag, the Portuguese international hailed the former Arsenal and Chelsea defender while calling him his toughest opponent.
“Over the years I had some great battles with Ashley Cole,” he said. “He does not give you a second to breathe
“He was such a tenacious player when he was at his peak, quick, tough in the tackle. You knew it would never be an easy game.”
When asked to pick between Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Cole didn’t hesitate, immediately pitching his tent with the Barcelona captain.
