The future of House of The Dragon is looking bright as Game of Thrones author, George R.R. Martin, gives an update on seasons 3 and 4.
House of Dragon, which is a prequel to HBO’s record-shattering hit series Game of Thrones, focuses on the events that led the Targaryen dynasty to civil war, aka the Dance of the Dragons. The show set the groundwork for the civil war in its first season. And it is expected to begin fully in season 2.
Although season 2 will premiere on HBO in the summer of 2024. Martin recently revealed on his blog “a Not A Blog ”, that he and the show’s writers are already discussing story details for seasons 3 and 4. The author revealed that he had talked with the team for over two days. While also teasing, they could have lasted much longer.

I spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal and his writing staff (Sara Hess, Ti Mikkel, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett) talking about the third and fourth seasons of House of the Dragon. They were lively, fun discussions, and we got some good work done, though two days was not nearly enough. There is so much ground to cover that I am not sure twenty days would have been enough.
This is undoubtedly good news for House of the Dragon fans, as it provides a little more clarity on how long the show could last. Furthermore, George R.R. Martin’s comment means that the show will dive deep into Dance of the Dragons. While getting key input from the franchise’s creator during its development.
We will have to wait until season 2 arrives next year to see how the story unravels.
