Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot recently spoke to GQ about her return to the Fast & Furious franchise and how she got a role in Disney’s upcoming Snow White film.
The final act of Fast X left Fast and Furious fans dumbfounded. As we watched the death of fan-favorite Jakob Toretto (John Cena) and the return of Gisele Yashar (Gal Gadot).
Gisele’s return was a surprise, we previously considered the character dead following the events of Fast & Furious 6. In the final act of Fast and Furious 6, Gisele sacrifices herself to save Han Lue (Sung Kang). She seemingly died after jumping off a falling plane onto the airport tarmac. Her supposed death had a significant impact on the Fast and Furious franchise, as it resulted in Han moving to Tokyo. A move that influenced Fast and Furious 2 and 7.
But, in a surprise twist, Fast X ended with her returning to save Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cipher (Charlize Theron). This is not the first time the Fast and Furious franchise has resurrected a character from the dead. For instance, the franchise retconned Han’s death which occurred in the second installment in Fast 7, and he returned in Fast 9. Likewise, Letty also returned from the dead in 2011’s Fast Five, having supposedly died in the 2009 installment.
However, fans are understandably confused about how Gisele survived an aircraft fall. But while promoting her new movie, Heart of Stone, in an interview with GQ. Gal Gadot addressed the issue of Gisele’s resurrection. She simply said: “Did you see a body? I did not see a body. Did you?”
This answer, although vague, sums up the logic behind resurrections in the Fast & Furious movies. Where we can’t consider a character truly dead without seeing a body. The “Wonder Woman” star also spoke to GQ about her role in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White.
Gadot revealed in the interview that she had to audition for the role, something she hasn’t had to do for a long time. She said, “It was the first time I had to kind of audition for a project in a while. They needed to make sure I can sing because this is a musical.” The Heart of Stone actress also said she spent weeks preparing for the audition. Stating, “So, for a month, I was working on the song, and then I auditioned. And we filmed the song, and I got the part, and it was very exciting.”
