FIFA Awards 2023: Sarina Wiegman, Emma Hayes, and Pep Guardiola Nominated for Coaching Prize

England’s Mary Earps and Manchester City’s Ederson are among the final three nominees for the Best Fifa Goalkeeper awards. England manager Wiegman claimed the women’s award last year after the Lionesses won Euro 2022. Chelsea manager Hayes and Barcelona’s Jonatan Giraldez are also on the women’s shortlist.

Guardiola, credited with Manchester City’s triumphant Treble, shares the men’s shortlist with Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi and Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti. The winners are set to be unveiled on Monday, 15 January, during a ceremony in London.

Wiegman, already recognized as the UEFA Women’s Coach of the Year in August, continues to garner accolades. Notably, Mary Earps of England and Ederson of Manchester City have been shortlisted for the best women’s and men’s goalkeepers, respectively.

Hayes, departing Chelsea for the United States at the season’s end, clinched the Women’s Super League (WSL) and Women’s FA Cup in the previous season. Meanwhile, Guardiola steered Manchester City to victory in the Premier League, FA Cup, and their inaugural Champions League title in the 2022-23 season.

The evaluation period for the women’s award spans from 1 August 2022 to 20 August 2023, while the men’s award considers performances from 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023.
