Fans votes on how Premier League season should end

Fans have voted on how they want the current Premier League season to be decided and most want it to be ruled ‘null and void’.

The current Premier League season is postponed until April 4 at the earliest due to the outbreak of COVID 19/coronavirus worldwide pandemic.
There is currently no protocol for the Premier League to follow an unprecedented time like these and many have speculated how the league will be decided.

However, a Sky Sports News poll has revealed that 51.5% of fans want the season to be stricken from the record books.

27.5% want the current table to be declared final while 21.1% want current leaders Liverpool to be given the title and no teams to be relegated.
It would be harsh on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side who are currently two wins away from their first-ever Premier League title if the season is rendered “Void and Null”.
The Reds have a whooping 25 points lead over second-place Manchester City.

Some fans have attempted to justify the season being written off with one user writing: “Obviously null and void. It’s the only mathematically fairway. Liverpool hasn’t won mathematically and those in the drop zone haven’t mathematically been relegated.”

While another argued for the season to not be written off saying: “To all those opting for Null and void, shame on you. We’re not talking of a 3, 6, 10 or 15 point lead here. The Premier League Season MUST continue, even if we have to wait till July.”

West Ham United vice-chairman Karen Brady is one of those who think this season should be considered null and void.

Brady wrote in her column for The Sun: “Suspension or cancellation of the league was always a certainty.

“There is no dodging the possibility that all levels in the EFL, as well as the Premier League, will have to be canceled and this season declared null and void because if the players can’t play the games can’t go ahead.

“The PL hopes that an interlude of three weeks from today will enable it to restart but that may well be dreamland.

“So what if the league cannot be finished? As games in both the PL and in the EFL are affected, the only fair and reasonable thing to do is declare the whole season null and void.”
Despite the debate, it is likely that Liverpool is awarded the title should the season be concluded early.

The Telegraph has reported that the Merseyside Reds are likely to be crowned champions no matter what as well as an interesting twist in terms of promotion.
