Dwayne Johnson Announces Disappointing Black Adam Update Amidst DC Shifts

Following a flurry of disappointing news from DC Studios as new heads James Gunn and Peter Safran work towards charting a new course for the troubled studio, numerous iconic characters have appeared in films, TV shows,,and videod video games. Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson has broken his silence over the recent developments unfolding at the studio with some not so great news. Johnson took to Twitter to announce that “black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling” following extensive discussions with the new management. However, he further stated that DC and his production company, Seven Bucks, will continue to discuss the most beneficial ways Black Adam can be used in future DC multiverse chapters.

Gunn also took to Twitter to express his admiration and support for the actor.

This update follows Black Adam’s poor box office performance, with the film grossing only $391 million worldwide on a $195 million budget. Undoubtedly a letdown for Johnson and DC, who spent nearly two decades developing the film. Furthermore, all potential Justice Society of America spin-off projects, as well as the teased battle between Black Adam and Henry Cavil’s Superman, appear to be canceled, with Gunn penning a new Superman film among other new projects in development.
