Disney plus Percy Jackson Series Wraps Filming

Disney Plus’s upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has officially wrapped filming. Becky Riordan disclosed the news via a Twitter post. In which she stated that “notices like that aren’t typically broadcast.” She however, wanted to offer an update for “those of you who were respectfully curious.”

She further shared the official layoff/wrap notice. Stating that the final production day is February 2, eight months after filming began in June 2022, Thus, since principal production is finally concluded, the crew can begin focusing on editing and VFX work and getting the show ready to premiere on Disney+. However, there is still a long time left before the show can actually be streamed.

Although season one is still a work in progress, according to Percy Jackson creator Rick Riordan, there is a high chance for a season 2 renewal. Riordan further teased in an earlier blog post about casting. That there characters who haven’t been announced yet wouldn’t be revealed until “at least a year” later. He stated that he would share more information in the future. Because he is “pleased to tell you we are in a very good place as we look ahead to a (not-yet-greenlit but highly anticipated) season two!”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be an adaptation of the first Percy Jackson book. which follows Percy’s quest to recover Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt and restore order to the world. However, to accomplish this, Percy (a demi-god) will have to face off against monsters and gods. While trying to clear his name and uncover a plot that could have severe implications for the world.

If the show is successful, it could serve as a springboard for the Percy Jackson franchise. including adaptations of the sequel books and the wider Riordanverse in future seasons.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is scheduled to premiere in 2024. This could change if an official premiere date is announced. Watch the trailer below.
