‘Black Adam’ crosses the $300 million mark at the international box office

Not only has Black Adam altered the balance of power in the DC Extended Universe, but the antihero is also making waves at the International Box Office. For the third week in a row, the Dwayne Johnson-led film has dominated the box office.

The film, which centers on Teth-Adam aka Black Adam, who possesses the powers of several ancient Egyptian gods, was shown on 15,996 screens last week and earned an estimated $25.4 million in 76 international territories plus $18.5 million in North America, for a total of $43.9 million worldwide. This brings the total global cost of the Warner Bros./New Line/DC project to $319.7 million.

The film stars A-list actors such as Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, and Sarah Shahi and has received positive reviews from critics, earning an 89 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is due, in part, to the return of Henry Cavill as Superman in the end credits scene.

Though a future China release for Black Adam is currently unknown, the film will be released in Japan on December 2. However, despite it’s current success, Black Adam’s unrivaled box office reign will come to an end this week with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
