Histories are written, but Alphonso Davies and girlfriend Jordyn Huitema could write theirs on a platter of gold, they could become the first couple to win the men’s and women’s Champions League in the same season.
Left-back Davies has been an integral part of the Bayern Munich side who are on the quest of winning a treble when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday’s final in Lisbon.
Davies’ other half Huitema, also from Canada, who plays for the PSG women’s team could taste European glory in the month of August.
Her PSG side have a date with Arsenal in the quarter-final on Saturday at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sébastien, Spain, with a victory for the French Outfit setting up a semi-final showdown with the winner of the game between Lyon and Bayern Munich (her husband) employers.
A total of four wins – one from Davies’ Bayern and three from Huitema’s PSG, who were runners up in 2015 and 2017, will see them become a truly unprecedented power couple in football.
The duo have been together since they were 16 and both won Canada’s Under 17 Player of the Year award in 2017 before moving on to the bigger stage of their respective careers.
The women’s Champions League final takes place at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, Spain on Sunday 30 August.
