Basketmouth releases star-studded sophomore album “Horoscopes”

Basketmouth (real name Bright Okpocha) started the roll-out for his sophomore album Horoscopes 3Q 2021 with “Your Body” featuring Buju and immediately music enthusiasts, lovers and fans of Basketmouth’s craft knew this was a complete 180 from his debut and previous album (“Yabasi”). Horoscopes continues Basketmouth’s A&R-ing work and partnership with producer extraordinaire, Duktor Sett.

Emotions of love (“Your Body”), despair (“Love & Life”), struggle (“Money”), lust (“Trouble”), wanderlust (“The Traveller”), cultural unity (“Assembly of Gods”) and so much more is embedded in the 25-minute 9-track Horoscopes album featuring heavyweights from the Nigerian and Ghanaian music industry. Simi, Efya, Johnny Drille, living legends—2Baba, Illbliss, Wande Coal and lyrical wordsmith—M.I Abaga. That’s nott all, as we have Buju, Peruzzi, Falz, Magnito, Flavour, Reekado Banks, The Cavemen. Oxlade, Blaqbonez, Dremo and Kwabena Kwabena all bringing their A-game on this amazing lyrically and sonically stunning body of work.

On the inspiration behind Horoscopes, Basketmouth tells Apple Music: “We believe it’ll show you a different side of the artists you’ve been listening to because they all came with something different. I’m not trying to prove any point with the album, to be honest, I’m just creating good music.” And that he did in the best possible way, blending different sound scape effortlessly to make for an enjoyable body of work. Horoscopes serves as the soundtrack for “Scorpio”, a full-length movie to be released this year, directed and produced by Basketmouth.
