Alvarez scores twice as City beat Burnley

Alvarez

Julian Alvarez netted twice in the first half, propelling Manchester City to a comfortable victory over struggling Burnley in the Premier League.

On his 24th birthday, Alvarez nodded in the first goal from Matheus Nunes’ delicately delivered cross and capitalized on a Kevin de Bruyne through-ball for his second.

City’s third goal came early in the second half when Rodri connected with Phil Foden’s cut-back, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Ameen Al Dakhil managed to grab a late consolation for Burnley during added time.

Despite the win, Pep Guardiola’s team secured the second spot in the standings, trailing league leaders Liverpool by five points, while Burnley are in 19th place.
