Adekunle Kosoko, better addressed by his music alias—Adekunle Gold—began the rollout for his fourth studio-album, Catch Me If You Can, almost a year ago with several clues and teasing and eventually dropping the first single off it in “It Is What It Is” (12th track) before going off to warn of the dangers embedded in the three songs starting with the letter “S”—”Sinner”, “Sleep” and “Selah”—7th, 9th and 13th track respectively, after the former (“Sinner” with Lucky Daye) dropped, then going on to release the party popping jam, “High” (10th track) with Davido.
Catch Me If You Can contains 14 songs dwelling predominantly on Afrobeat(s) production mixed with Highlife and elements of Amapiano can clearly be heard on “High”; the two majors genres are pop and R&B. Features include American music superstar, Ty Dollar $ign (on “One Woman”, track 4), Foushee (on “Dior, Dior, Dior”, track 11), UK songstress, Stefflon Don (on “FYE”, track 7) and obviously Davido and Lucky Daye.
Producers who Adekunle Gold worked with on Catch Me If You Can include Blaise Beatz (3, 4, 5, 7 and 12), Spax (11), TMXO (2), Pheelz (10), Tay Iwar (9) just to name a few; Adekunle Gold impresses lyrically as usual, choosing the English language as his dominant choice of wordings on this project while casually bringing in Pidgin and Yoruba into the mix every now and then.
