A Quiet Place: Day One has officially started filming.

John Krasinski, the franchise’s creator, disclosed the news in a Twitter post. Showcasing a series of photos about the beginning of production. But Krasinski, who directed and wrote the franchise’s first two installments, is not directly involved in the filming of A Quiet Place: Day One.

The film is a spin-off prequel to the first two Quiet Place films. and follows a new cast of characters as they navigate the beginning of civilization’s descent into chaos. which has been a major topic of discussion amongst the franchise fans. 

Michael Sarnoski, director of 2021’s critically acclaimed PIG is directing the new installment. While Krasinski, only gets original story idea credit for Day One. He was present, however, to support and observe the start of filming. 

Further, though not much information regarding the film’s plot has been released, there have been some casting announcements. which confirmed that Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), and Alex Wolff will be leading the spin-off. 

This comes as a departure from the first two films in the franchise, which introduced audiences to a tight-knit and resilient family. played by John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds. as they attempted to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. 

A Quiet Place: Day One is currently slated for a March 8, 2024 release date. Likewise, A Quiet Place: Part 3 has a planned 2025 release. which means the prequel or spinoff may provide details that are pivotal to the next film. What’s more, depending on Day One’s outcome, the characters could cross paths with Emily Blunt in Part 3.
