A Jurassic League Animated Movie is Reportedly in Development at DC

In an unexpected turn of events, DC Studios is reportedly developing an animated Jurassic League movie. Which, as the name implies, will center on the dino version of the Justice League.

Jeff Sneider, an online reporter, disclosed the news on X (Twitter). He stated that DC Studios is currently developing an animated movie about “a prehistoric version of Earth that sees heroes and villains as dinosaurs.”

Further, Sneider stated that DC Studios co-head James Gunn will produce the film, with Brian Lynch writing. Lynch is not new to creating animated films. He had previously written the Secret Life of Pets films and Minions 1. Similarly, he contributed to the story for Puss in Boots 1 and Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Nevertheless, a Jurassic League film is an unexpected development from DC Studios, which is currently developing a new cinematic universe that will include films, television, animation, and video games. Furthermore, it is unknown whether it will be canon for the new DCU or an Elseworld initiative. However, this will definitely be clarified before the film’s premiere.

In addition, the Jurassic League film will be based on the 2022 miniseries by Daniel Warren Johnson (writer) and Juan Gedeon (illustrator). For those not conversant with the story, you can read the miniseries synopsis below:

“You know the story: an infant escapes a far-off planet before it explodes and is deposited on Earth to be raised by human parents. A goddess from a lost city defends the truth. A Tyrannosaurus rex dons the visage of a bat to strike fear into evildoers’ hearts. This heroic trinity, alongside a league of other super-powered dinosaurs, join forces to save a prehistoric Earth from the sinister machinations of Darkseid.”
